Karl has played professionally for over 45 years with many different bands, covering just about every style of music and has done national touring with the band “Wild Eyes”  and the show band “Dazzler”. He also has performed with "The Ultimate Doo-Wop Show" and has performed with bands opening for The Tubes, Firehouse, Kid Rock, 38 Special, Marty Stuart, Hinder, April Wine and many more. 

 

In addition to performances of his original music with his group - "The Minstrel's Bazaar", he also performs with "Free Fallin”(Twin Cities based Tom Petty Concert Experience (www.freefallin.us), various other acts and is available for hire locally and nationally.

He has been a musician his entire life, has been teaching private and classroom guitar for almost forty years in addition to formerly teaching Music Business classes at the Minneapolis music college - Music Tech(1999-2000) which became The McNally-Smith College Of Music. His primary styles of guitar playing/teaching are in Rock, Blues, Acoustic and Classical with secondary styles in Jazz and Country. His formal training in music includes 4 years of classical guitar instruction, 2 years private guitar instruction(rock, blues, jazz)and music theory, music composition and music history studies at Century College, The University of MN and at The Professional Guitar School of Minneapolis. 

 

TEACHING: One-on-one guitar lessons online or at two locations in the St.Paul/Minneapolis area. The Music Connection(Forest Lake, MN) and Groth Music (Bloomington,MN). "My emphasis in teaching is helping the student develop good technique, teaching how to read/write music and guitar tablature, ear training and soloing. I also teach students how to compose their own songs, help them understand the music industry as a business(intermediate level students and higher) and the most important thing – to enjoy playing the guitar!"
